Mrs. Metta Hicks, 66, died May 16 at her home in Wilton Junction following an extended illness.

A longtime resident of Wilton Junction, she was born June 18, 1895, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Johann and Anna Sindt. She was married to Herman Giese at Wilton Junction and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Zion Lutheran church.

Survivors include a son, Henry Giese of Wilton Junction and an adopted son, Clarence Allison, Moline, Ill.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Anna) Utesch, Artesia, Calif. and Mrs. Alvin (Rose) Cobb, Lyndon, Ill.; 3 brothers, John Sindt, Durant; Benhardt Sindt, Muscatine, and Richard Sindt, Germany; 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles (Amelia) Staack, Wilton Junction and Mrs. Amanda Daggs of Davenport; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held May 19 at Zion Lutheran church, Wilton Junction with the Rev. John B. Nieman officiating. Burial was at Oakdale cemetery.
