May 9, 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Mrs. Peter Heldt, 49, a former resident of Cedar county, died in Cameron, Wis., April 25. She underwent surgery 3 weeks before her death.

Services were held in Barron, Wis. April 27, with burial in the Wayside cemetery near Barron.

Hazel Florence, the daughter of Eugene and Jennie Griffis, was born near Oxford Junction March 13, 1914. She grew to womanhood in Cedar county, receiving her education in the Cedar and Jones county schools.

She was married to Peter Heldt by the late Rev. Otis Moore in the bride's home near Rochester Nov. 26, 1936. They lived near New Hartford and Eldora before moving to Cameron in 1955.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of Barron and before her marriage was a pianist at the Rochester Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, John, Roberts, Wis. and Roger, Barron, Wis.; 9 grandchildren; 6 sisters, Mrs. Henry (Ruth) Wieman, Moscow; Mrs. Elmer (Zella) Hennings, Mrs. John (Ilda) Gerber and Mrs. Violet Wilson, all of Tipton; Mrs. R. S. (Dorothy) Webb, Cedar Falls and Mrs. Welby (Vivian) Dixon, Toledo and 3 brothers, Voyle Helble, Cedar Falls; Virgil Griffis, Tipton and the Rev. Lee Griffis, Indianpolis, Ind.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Beulah) Schieding, Marshalltown and her father.
