Funeral services for Charles W. Spencer, 84, were held April 6 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home, with Gordon Smith in charge. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lemoyne Murray, John Sharpless, Harry Yerington, Harold and Nate Conley and Ed Sharpless. Laura Geller was organist.

Mr. Spencer died April 3 at the Utopia Nursing home after an extended illness.

The son of Henry and Margaret Wymer Spencer, he was born March 12, 1879 in Cedar county and spent his life in the Rochester community where he worked as a farm laborer and cook.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Lovella Brown, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Guy (Alice) Rutter, Waterloo and Mrs. Galen (Velma) Clark, Fullerton, Calif.; a brother, Andy, Davenport; 6 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Kleppe.
