Mrs. Lizzie J. Bowker, 59, well known resident of Scott county, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's hospital following a stroke Friday morning.

Mrs. Bowker, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott, was born March 15, 1877, in Cedar county where she received her education. She was married to Charles E. Bowker, April 3, 1901, in Oxford Mills, and the couple operated a general store in Johnson county for seven years, moving to Argo where they conducted the general store there for the past 28 years.

Mrs. Bowker was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Argo.

Surviving are her husband; four sons, Charles W. of Davenport, Alvin at home, Clarence of LeClaire, and Howard of Rock Island; five sisters, Mrs. D. T. Wilson of Davenport, Mrs. W. C. Hodgden of Toronto, Mrs. W. S. Weirick of Lisbon, Mrs. Sarah Hoffman of Clarence, and Mrs. W. C. Field of Des Moines; one brother, William Elliott of Princeton, Iowa, and two grandchildren. Two daughters, Luella and Ida Eleanor, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at the United Presbyterian church of Argo. Burial was in Glendale cemetery, LeClaire.
