Earl L. Campion, 66, Cedar county farmer, died suddenly early March 7 at his home about 3 miles north of West Branch.

Funeral services were March 9 in Iowa City. The Rev. P. W. McCoy, pastor of St. Bernadette's church at West Branch, officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Iowa City.

Mr. Campion was born Nov. 17, 1896, in Newport township, the son of John and Theresa Steinocher Campion. He married Bessie Louis Stimmel in Davenport, they farmed in Newport township until 1950, when the family moved to their present home.

Mr. Campion was a member of the Iowa City Moose lodge.

Surviving are the widow; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Walenta, Iowa City and Cheryl at home; 5 sons, Leland and Gerald, at home; Richard, West Branch; James, Indianpolis, Ind., and Bill, Tipton; a sister, Mrs. Raymond Murphy, Iowa City, and 8 grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded Mr. Campion in death.
