Mrs. Anna McMurphy, age 82, a resident of Durant for 40 years, died Nov. 23 in the Wilton Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

Anna Meincke was born March 28, 1879 in Germany, coming to America at the age of 16, directly to the Durant community. She was married to Harry McMurphy Feb. 9, 1910 in Davenport. The couple engaged in farming 4 1/2 miles south of Durant until retirement in 1921.

Mr. McMurphy preceded her in death in 1954.

Mrs. McMurphy was of Lutheran faith. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Alvina Mueller, Davenport, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Nov. 27 in Gloria Dei Lutheran church, Durant.
