Mechanicsville, Ia., Aug. 24-- Mary Etta Gleason was born near Anamosa, Iowa, on June 17, 1877, and died at Cedar Rapids, Aug. 1, 1917. At the age of one year she moved with her parents to Mechanicsville and spent her childhood and young womanhood here. On Aug. 29, 1900 she was married to James L. Welch. Since her marriage her home has been at Shellsburg, Cedar Rapids and Corpus Christi, the latter place being her home at the time of her death.

Trained in the Baptist Sunday school she later attended and while living at Shellsburg joined the Presbyterian church. She was also a member of the Rebekahs. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, James L. Welch, her mother, Mrs. Esther Gleason, two sisters, Mrs. Maud Fergson and Mrs. Maud Bangham, and one brother, Earl Gleason, of Springfield, Ill.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. W. N. Baker were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bangham home.
