Senius Sorensen, 89, a resident of the West Branch area for 51 years, died at an Iowa City nursing home Aug. 17 following an extended illness.

He was born June 7, 1872, at Tislum, Denmark, the son of Lars and Trine Sorensen. He was married to Martine Eriksen in Denmark.

He and his wife came to America in 1910, and farmed near West Branch until her death in 1931. Mr. Sorensen has worked at various jobs.

He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Surviving are a son, Peter, Oxford; a daughter, Mrs. Astrid Handshew, Cedar Rapids; 2 brothers living in Denmark; one nephew and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 18 in West Branch. The Rev. William Thaacker of Bethany Lutheran church, officiated. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
