Charles H. Hartz, 87, a lifelong resident of Cedar county, died at 5:10 p.m. June 4 at his home near Durant after an extended illness.

He was born June 11, 1873 in Cedar county, a son of Max and Mary Hartz. He married Amelia Petersen Jan. 15, 1908. Mr. Hartz had been a farmer.

Surviving are his wife; a son, William Hartz; a daughter, Alice Hartz; and 2 sisters, Mary Hartz and Mrs. Henry Glaser, all of Durant. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. D.S.T. Thursday. Burial will be at Durant.
