Joseph F. Cruse, 71, lifelong resident of Mechanicsville died May 13 in his home in Mechanicsville, following a heart attack.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, 2 sons, Marlyn of Marion, Arthur of Champlin, Minn., a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Alrata) Crock of Olin, 12 grandchildren and several brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.

He was born May 27, 1890 in Cedar county, the son of Franklin and Louise Kern Cruse.

Services were held in the Mechanicsville Methodist church with the Rev. Eugene Miller in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
