Frank William (Dutch) Westphal, 80, a printer in Tipton for 26 years, died at his home in Tipton April 27 after an illness of several months. He underwent 2 operations recently and had been home from the hospital only a short time before his death.

Funeral services were held in the Sheets and Dahn funeral home April 29 with Pastor Reginald M. Muhl of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Stanwood in charge. Pallbearers were Raymond Maurer, James Casterline, Richard Ferguson, Laverne Suchomel, Dr. D. E. Forest and Dave Cline.

A quartet from St. Paul's church sang and Mrs. Dave Cline and Mr. Raymond Maurer were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

The son of Theodore and Hulda Pagel Westphal, he was born in Frankfort on Main, Germany, May 1, 1880. He came to the United States when he was 13 years old and was apprenticed as a printer.

He was a printer in Cedar Rapids for many years, working at the Torch Press. He was a craftsman at the trade.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Gladys C. Wachal, Tipton and Mrs. E. H. (Dorothy) Dallege, Atalissa, 3 sisters, all living in Los Angeles, Calif., 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

His wife preceded him in death.
