April 27, 1961 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. E. C. (Louie May) Mitchell were held at 2 p.m. April 26, in the First Methodist church with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Leabhart, James Stafford, Paul Hutchens, Herman Hass, Bert Highly and Frank Norris. Laura Geller was organist. The Rebekah lodge had services at the church.

The Dye funeral home was in charge.

Mrs. Mitchell died April 24 at her home in Tipton after a long illness.

The daughter of James B. and Mary Jeffers Horn, she was born May 21, 1876, in Rochester township and attended the rural schools. She was married to E. Curtis Mitchell Nov. 1, 1900. They made their home in or near Tipton their entire wedded lives.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Hebron Methodist and the First Methodist church of Tipton, the W.S.C.S. and the Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Overman, and a son, Prof. Carroll R. Mitchell of the faculty of Central college, Fayette, Mo.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Homer and H. E. Horn, 2 daughters, Opal Vivian Mitchell, who died Oct. 10, 1933 and Mrs. George (Zola) Geller, who died March 12, 1951.
