Mattaus (Tace) Olderog, 83, a resident of Durant for the past 15 years, died at his home at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 25 following an extended illness.

Born July 19, 1877, in Germany, the son of Heinrich and Gertrude Olderog, he came to America, and Durant at 17. He was married to Malinda Stahl March 4, 1911. The couple engaged in farming near Durant in Scott and Cedar counties.

Mrs. Olderog preceded him in death in 1922.

On April 4, 1928, Mr. Olderog was married to Anna Jarr. The couple retired from farming in 1945.

Mr. Olderog was a member of the German Pioneer Settlers and was of Lutheran faith.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Clarence and Walter, Walcott, and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Ella) Grau, Davenport and Mrs. Lloyd (Velma) Johansen, Durant, ten grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, three sisters and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. in Durant. Burial is in the Durant cemetery.

Friends may call after noon on Wednesday.
