Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Reid, 81, were held in Tipton Sept. 12 with the Rev. Ralph Adamson in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Laura Geller was organist. Casket bearers were Ralph Werling, Clarence Kuhn, Carson Cobb, Edward Hodler, Lance Schilling and Allen Rumble.

Mary Philomena Spoo, daughter of Mathias and Wilhelmina Rath Spoo, was born on a farm in Clinton county, north of Lowden, May 5, 1879. She was married to Charles H. Reid of Lowden Aug. 15, 1898.

The couple lived at Lowden where Mr. Reid was postmaster and co-publisher of the Lowden News, and in 1917 moved to Tipton, where he served as Cedar county recorder for 7 years. He preceded her in death April 16, 1952.

She is survived by two sons, Hal C. Reid, director of elementary education in the Cedar Rapids schools, Rodney Reid, Daytona Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Johnson and Therza Reid, Hollywood, Calif., and Mrs. Ina Barewald, Tipton, Cedar county relief director; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
