Mrs. Mate Bierkamp, 80, a resident of Durant for 61 years, died at her home Sept. 9, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were Sept. 12 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran church, with burial in the Durant cemetery. The family requested memorials be made to the Gloria Dei Lutheran church in Durant.

Mate Bangert was born Aug. 7, 1880, near Blue Grass to John and Catherine Bangert. She was married to Henry F. Bierkamp March 7, 1900. The couple made their home Durant, where they operated the Ford garage until retiring in 1948. Mr. Bierkamp died in May, 1950.

Mrs. Bierkamp was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran church, a charter member of the Pythian Sisters, Temple 178 and president of the Ladies Aid Society of Durant.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Viola Bauer, Durant; Mrs. William B. Quarton, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Jack Wrysinske, Beloit, Wis.; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Lehms and Mrs. G. W. Jost, Durant and Mrs. Charles Teufel, Davenport and 2 brothers, August, Wilton Junction and Henry, Durant.
