28 July 1960 - The Tipton Conservative

Final rites were held July 27 at Clarence for Mrs. H. A. (Eva) Caldwell, 86. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell died at a nursing home in Cedar Rapids July 24, 3 days after her birthday.

She is survived by a son, Earl, Inglewood, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Anna Wilkin, Stanwood. Her husband, who died 13 years ago, and a grandson, Jack, preceded her in death.

Services for Mrs. Eva Walker Caldwell, 86, were held in Clarence July 27, with the Rev. Cyril Ashton in charge. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell died at Cedar Rapids July 24.

Eva J., daughter of Jacob G. and Amanda Walker, was born at Montour July 21, 1874. She was married to Herbert A. Caldwell at Stanwood where they made their home until 1912 when they moved to Clarence.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church at Clarence until it closed and then became a member of the Methodist church. She was a past matron of the Clarence chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, the W.S.C.S., the American Legion Auxiliary and the Wednesday Literary club.

She is survived by a son, Earl, Inglewood, Calif., a brother, Russell E. Walerk, Chicago, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Anna Wilkins, Stanwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Jack Caldwell, 3 brothers and a sister.
