Albin J. Meier, 56, a resident of Durant since 1948, died at Mercy hospital in Davenport Thursday afternoon after a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Meier were held in Durant at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Born Jan. 14, 1900, near Walcott, he was the son of Jacob and Caroline Meier. He was educated in the rural schools of Scott county and married Mable Paulsen June 4, 1924, in Durant. The couple engaged in farming in this vicinity for 21 years and moved to Durant in 1948. He had been employed by the C. T. Schacht Contracting Co. of Durant.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Eldred, Tipton, and Delmar, Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Rudy Huesmann, Stockton, and Mrs. Robert Kappeler, Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. George Ormsby, Wilton Junction, and Mrs. Eldred Rohlf, Walcott; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one brother.
