Funeral services for Mrs. George Craven, 77, were held Saturday at the First Methodist church. The Rev. A. C. Long was in charge. Burial was in Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Craven died suddenly early Feb. 16 at her home in Tipton. Death was due to a stroke.

Mary Mathilde Walkenhorst, daughter of William and Mary Hilliard Walkenhorst, was born Sept. 30, 1879 at St. Charles, Mo. Her childhood was spent at St. Charles. When she was 12, her mother died and she helped to care for her brother and sisters.

She was married to George Craven July 24, 1895 at Springfield, Mo. The family settled in Tipton in 1904. Although she did not play a musical instrument, she encouraged her daughters in music and travelled with them for 12 years while they were doing Chautauqua work as a family orchestra.

She is survived by her husband; five daughters: Mrs. Irene Neuman, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. George Sprague, Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. Roy Zimmerman and Mrs. John Freeman, Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. Harold Gibeaut, Mechanicsville; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lou Nowell, Chicago, Ill.
