Mrs. Samantha Adams, 88, died at her home in Tipton Friday night following an illness of three weeks.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home, with George Daufeldt, minister of Jehovah Witnesses of Davenport congregation, in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Samantha Baker, oldest daughter of Marion and Eunice Baker, was born in Poweshiek county Sept. 30, 1868. The family moved to Cedar county when she was a young girl and she spent the remainder of her life in the Tipton area.

She was married to Henry Adams Feb. 26, 1889, in West Liberty. They were the parents of nine children, seven of whom are living: Harry and Arthur, Tipton; Elgy, Davenport; Mrs. Myrtle Young, Mrs. Paul Sindt, and Mrs. Walter Staats, all of Tipton, and Mrs. Iva Olson, Davenport.

She is also survived by two brothers, Ava and Frank and two sisters, Mary and Anne, along with 17 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Edna and Luella, and her husband.
