Herman Weih, 79, died at his home in Bennett early Sunday morning, May 6, following a short illness. He was born in Farmington township, Cedar county, son of Paul and Katherine Bartscher Weih. He attended school near Sunbury and Wilton college for four years, later moving to a farm near Bennett, where his sister, Amelia, kept house for him.

Dec. 20, 1905, he married Lizzie Rixe of Lowden. They observed their golden wedding Dec. 30, 1955. They resided on their farm south of Bennett until the spring of 1924, when they moved to Bennett.

He served as township trustee for several years and also served on the town council for eight years. He was a member of Peace Evangelical & Reformed church.

He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Chris Soehren, Bennett; four brothers, John and Henry, Bennett; William, Tipton, and Frank, Davenport, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Frank Alberts.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Peace Evangelical & Reformed church, Bennett, with the Rev. Alvin Volle conducting services. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Riedesel Jr., sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lights of Home" and Mrs. Veno Conrad played the organ accompaniment. Pallbearers were Harvey, Leo, Gene, Don, Clarence and Paul Weih, all nephews of the deceased.
