Funeral services for Emma D. Christianson, 74, were held at the Methodist church in Mechanicsville Thursday. The Rev. Eugene Miller officiated. Burial was in Pine Creek cemetery at Independence.

Mrs. Christianson died May 21 at a Lisbon nursing home, following a lingering illness.

She was born Emma Duscheng, the daughter of Nicholas and Lucy Duscheng, at Wadena Feb. 15, 1882. She lived at Strawberry Point and Edgewood, and later taught school at Oelwein, Edgewood and McGregor.

After her marriage to James P. Christianson June 25, 1913, she taught in Stanwood and North English and Lawrence, Nebr. She had been a resident of Mechanicsville since 1930.

Survivors include two children, Mrs. Lucile Meixner and James P. Christianson, both of Tipton; one granddaughter, Frances Maxine Meixner, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1925, and a sister, Mary Molumby.

Mrs. Christianson was a member of the Mechanicsville Methodist church.
