Funeral services were held May 25 in Iowa City for J. L. Siler, 63, West Branch farmer. The Rev. L. E. Bauman was in charge, with burial in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Siler died at Mercy hospital in Iowa City May 22. He had been in ill health for four years.

Jacob Lusby Siler was born at Lexington, Va., Dec. 13, 1892, the son of Jacob and Mary Siler. He was one of 10 children. He came to West Branch as a young man and engaged in farming. For about 35 years his home has been in Oasis neighborhood.

He married Pearl Rummells Feb. 22, 1921. They established their home on the Mrs. Belle Speight farm. Later they moved to the adjoining Petersen farm which they bought.

Mr. Siler was a member of the West Branch Masonic lodge, the Johnson county Farm Bureau and the West Branch American Legion post. He was a veteran of World War I in which he served in the army overseas.

Survivors besides his wife, are two sisters, Grace Klicker of Lexington and Nellie Fox, Monpelier, Ind., and two brothers, Richard Siler of Natural Bridge, Va., and Tom Siler of West Branch, and a number of nieces and nephews.
