Thomas Chester (Chet) Williams, 72, died suddenly at Cedar Valley Saturday. Funeral services were held Monday in the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with Gordon Smith in charge. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

The son of Theodore and Martha Williams, he was born May 16, 1885, at Shellsburg, and came to the Cedar Valley community many years ago. He was married to Rosie Burhop of Atalissa at Davenport Aug. 21, 1943.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie, West Branch; two brothers, Charles, Springfield, Ohio, and Oris, West Branch; six step-children, Henry W. Burhop, Mrs. Marie McDuffie, and Mrs. Helen Fisher, all of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Evelyn Schneider, West Liberty, Mrs. Rosie Beh, Atalissa, and Mrs. Anna Baldwin, Davenport. He is also survived by 14 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, James, Denver, Colo., Isaac, Belle Plaine, George, Tipton, and Frank, who died in infancy; also two sisters, Mrs. Roxa Dutcher, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Mae Mayer of West Branch.

Pallbearers were Roy Metz, Ray Metz, Jake Lamp, Cecil Slach, William Neibert, and Claude Mathias.

Organist was Mrs. Charles Crawford and the vocal selections were by Mrs. Wendell Willer. Those assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Roy Metz and Mrs. Claude Mathias.
