Funeral services for Ward F. Lewis, 81, were held Thursday afternoon at the Mechanicsville Presbyterian church with the Rev. George Gallaher officiating. Burial was in Green cemetery, near Morley.

Born Feb. 4, 1876, at Garwin, the son of William and Frances Bratton Lewis, he died Aug. 26 at his home in Mechanicsville.

He was married March 24, 1910, to Jessie Maxwell of Traer and in 1917 the family moved to a farm northeast of Mechanicsville where they lived until 1947 when they moved to town.

In addition to Mrs. Lewis he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Cook of Morley, and Mrs. Virgil Tallman of Anamosa; two grandsons, Marvin and James Tallman, and two sisters, Jessie Brown, New Ross, Ind., and Etta Mapes, Traer.
