27 June 1957 - The Tipton Conservative

Floyd Otis Challis, a Cedar Rapids resident for 28 years and a mechanic in the model shop at Collins Radio for 15 years, died Thursday following a sudden illness.

He was born Aug. 25, 1891, at Red Oak Grove, near Tipton, and was married to Gladys V. Jeffries July 29, 1914, at Onslow.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. C. E. (Vivian) Lambert and a son, E. B. "Bud" Challis, both of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Myrtle Hobstetter of Tipton, and two brothers, Ray, of Tipton, and Ralph, of Davenport.

Mr. Challis was a member of the Presbyterian church, the I.B.E.W. and local union No. 1362.

Services were held Saturday with Dr. Theodore Lilley of the First Presbyterian church in charge.
