Mrs. Ethel Carl, 59, Davenport, former Bennett postmistress, died at 5:35 p.m. Monday in St. Luke's hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Carl, the former Ethel Meumann, was born Sept. 26, 1898, in Davenport, and married Harry G. Carl March 16, 1921, in Davenport.

Mrs. Carl lived on a farm near Bennett for five years and in Bennett for 15 years. She was Bennett postmistress under the Hoover administration.

She moved to Davenport in 1942.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in Hill and Fredericks chapel at Davenport with the Rev. Lawrence Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton.
