Peter L. Petersen, 95, resident of Durant for 20 years, died at the Wilton nursing home Nov. 6 following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 27, 1861, in Germany, coming to the United States as a child and settling in Scott county. He married Lena Arp in 1883. She died in 1889. His second marriage was to Augusta Thumann Dec. 12, 1900. They made their home in Cedar and Scott counties before moving to Durant in 1937.

Surviving are his widow and one stepson, August Thumann of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, six brothers, two sisters, and one son, Leonard.

Services were conducted Saturday by the Rev. Fred Rolf of Rock Island, Ill. Burial was at Durant.
