Funeral services for Harry Schlapkohl, 62, were held Saturday at Durant with burial in the Durant cemetery.

Schlapkohl died at his home in Durant March 20, following an extended illness.

Born Dec. 2, 1894, in Muscatine county, he was the son of George and Wilhelmina Schlapkohl. He was educated in the schools of Muscatine and Cedar counties.

He married Wilma Bockwoldt Jan. 16, 1918, at Davenport. The couple engaged in farming two miles southwest of Durant until retiring two years ago. Mr. Schlapkohl was a member of Durant lodge No. 265, Knights of Pythias. He was a director of the Durant Creamery association.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Donald and Vernon Schlapkohl, both of Stockton, and Roland Schlapkohl, Durant; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Riessen, Stockton, and Mrs. Lysle Burmeister, North Liberty; two brothers, John and Otto Schlapkohl, Durant; a sister, Mrs. Katie Treimer, Davenport; and 17 grandchildren.
