Funeral services for John Kelch, 83, who died Dec. 29 at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eloise Kelch, were held Jan. 2 at the West Branch Methodist church.

The Rev. L. E. Bauman officiated at the services at which Masonic rites were held. Burial was in West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Kelch was born July 5, 1873, in the Centerdale community and made his home on his farm west of Centerdale most of his life except for nine years residence in West Branch.

He was married in 1901 to the former Nellie Gorman, who died in 1916. Mr. Kelch later married the former Charlotte Mackey Gorman, who died in 1926.

Mr. Kelch was a member of the West Branch Methodist church and the Masonic lodge.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, a grandson, Jack, of West Branch; a granddaughter, Joan, of Cedar Falls; a step-daughter, Mrs. Irene Thompson, of West Liberty; and a brother, Frank, also of West Liberty.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Clell, who died in 1946, and another who died in infancy.
