Memorial services for Mrs. Clarence A. Border were held July 21 in the Federated church at Lisbon. The service was conducted by the Rev. Ralph Schenck and the Rev. Eugene Miller. Burial was in Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Mrs. Border died Sunday, July 19, in Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids, following several years of ill health.
Hazel Eurene Whitlatch, daughter of Adam and Philomelia Whitlatch, was born June 2, 1886, in Linn county. She attended school at Standing Rock and Mt. Vernon.
Feb. 24, 1904, she was united in marriage to Clarence A. Border in Mt. Vernon. For 3 years they lived on a farm north of Mt. Vernon, then moved to their farm in Cedar county where they resided for 49 years. The past 3 1/2 years they made their home in Lisbon.
She is survived by her husband; 2 daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Alice) Hubler, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Max (Eulalia) Waln, Madison, Wis.; one son, Elmer C. Border of Albuquerque, N.M.; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Mrs. Thomas Morgan, Low Moor.
