The death of James Theodore Jensen, 79, occurred at Mercy hospital in Iowa City Jan. 19. He had been a patient there since Jan. 16, following a stroke.

He was born in Denmark June 13, 1879, the son of Soren and Jensiene Johansen Jensen, and came with his parents to West Branch when he was a child. He was married Nov. 22, 1906, to Edel Catherine Anderson and was engaged in farming until retiring on account of failing health. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran church.

He is survived by his widow; one son, Harold, Springdale; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen of Los Angeles, Calif.; 8 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Anton Jensen of Dike.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Bethany Lutheran church in West Branch with the Rev. L. A. Kirkegaard officiating, with burial in the West Branch cemetery.
