John Carlton Enlow, 77, formerly of West Branch, a retired carpenter and resident of Salem, Ore., died May 14 at a Salem nursing home.

The son of Thomas and Lydia Gruwell Enlow, he was born at West Branch Dec. 8, 1880. He was married to Marie Little at Lake Side, Wash., in February, 1904, and they were the parents of four children. After a few years in the west he returned to West Branch. Here he was married May 8, 1923, to Della Mae Scellars. They went to California in September, 1929, and after a winter there lived in the Wenatchee, Wash., area until November, 1935, when they moved to Salem, Ore.

He was a birthright member of the Friends church, a member of Maccabees lodge at Portland, Ore., the carpenters local union 1065, and the Masonic lodge at West Branch. He suffered a stroke June 15, 1956, and had been in a nursing home since Feb. 5, 1957.

Survivors include his widow, Della Mae, Salem; two sons, Harold Enlow, Renton, Wash., and Robert Enlow, Peshastin, Wash.; two daughters, Dorothy Young, Portland, Ore., and Helen DeWitz, Wenatchee, Wash.; a brother, W. G. Enlow, West Branch; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Scellars, Salem; seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 16, conducted by Nathan B. Pierson of the Friends church. Graveside services were held at West Branch.
