Funeral services for Christian Henry Haesemeyer, 79, Stanwood banker for more than 60 years, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Stanwood.

The Rev. R. M. Muhl officiated at the services, with burial in the Stanwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Merle and Walter Lehrman, Walter Kemmann, Ed Busching, Art Ropa and Fred Luedeman. Mrs. Fred Luedeman and Mrs. Leonard Koppenhaver were in charge of flowers. Music was by the men's chorus of St. Paul's with Emil Licht, organist.

Haesemeyer died suddenly Sunday at 1:30 a.m., following a heart attack.

The son of Fredrick and Wilhelmine Busching Haesemeyer, he was born July 10, 1878, in Leese, Hanover province, Germany, and came to the United States as a child. He had been a resident of Stanwood for 66 years.

He was married to Minnie Lehrman May 7, 1908. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary less than three weeks before his death.

Mr. Haesemeyer was associated with the Union Trust & Savings bank at Stanwood for more than 60 years and had been president of the bank since 1941. He was a past president of the Cedar County Bankers association, director of the Central State bank at State Center for 21 years, chairman of group 8 of Iowa Bankers association, a group in which he had held several offices.

Active in community affairs, Mr. Haesemeyer had been treasurer of the Stanwood schools for 42 years and served as town clerk at one time. He was also a charter member of the Stanwood Lions club. He was treasurer of St. Paul's Lutheran church for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Wilfred, State Center, and Carl, Stanwood; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Irene) Jacob, Zanesville, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Opheim, Des Moines; nine grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Reinking and Mrs. Minnie Goldsmith, both of Clarence.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Meyer.
