Funeral services for O. W. Nelson were held Saturday at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Howard Dukelow in charge. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery at Wilton Junction.

Otis Weaver Nelson was born Nov. 27, 1879, at Durant, being the youngest of 6 boys. He attended the Durant schools, starting work as errand boy in his brother Ashton's hardware store in Wilton in 1896. Later, having learned the tinner's trade, he managed the tin shop.

In 1903 he married Clara Friederickson of Wilton Junction. They moved to Arion and started a hardware business. Two children, Donald and Grace, were born in Arion. After 17 years the store was destroyed by fire. Mr. Nelson spent the next 10 years traveling for a bankers' supply house. During the depression year of 1931 Mr. and Mrs. Nelson moved to Tipton and with their son, Donald, bought and opened the Tipton Hardware Co.

Twelve years ago, his doctor advised a warmer climate and he and his wife, Clara, went to Miami, Fla. There they shared a home with their daughter, Grace, coming back to Tipton during the summer months, where he enjoyed fixing things for his many friends.

He sang several years with Tipton men's chorus and was a Masonic and Eastern Star member. He enjoyed people and living and was active till his sudden death Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, at a Miami, Fla., hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; son, Donald, Tipton; one daughter, Grace De Lucia of Miami; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and his 3 older brothers, Mark, Wilton Junction, Henry, Le Mesa, Calif., and Ace, Elgin, Ill.
