Frances M. Laing, daughter of Seth and Margaret Wintermute was born April 25, 1879, in Red Oak township and passed away at her home July 29, 1955, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She attended the local schools and after having completed a normal training course, taught in the rural schools here for ten years prior to her marriage. On July 16, 1907, she was united in marriage to Allan R. Laing at Davenport, Iowa.

She was a member of the Red Oak Grove Presbyterian church since 1904.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret, at home; two sons, Raymond at home, Robert of Bettendorf, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson of Manchester, Mrs. Mary Manson of Cedar Rapids and a brother Warren Wintermute of Tipton; also a number of nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death were her husband and one daughter.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 31, 1955, at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home in Tipton, with interment in Red Oak Grove cemetery, Rev. Ralph Edie, pastor of the Red Oak Grove Presbyterian church, officiating.
