SERVICES TODAY

Lois Davidson, 77, of 921 High St., Grinnell, died suddenly Wednesday at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the First United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata officiating. Organist was Mrs. Eugene Holley. Pallbearers were Robert Baumann, Eugene Holley, Donald W. Lambie, William Logan, John Peak and Monte Redenius. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Alden, Viola Christianson, Norman Hockett, Eloise Kriester, Raymond Peak and Rachel Speers.

Burial was at Stanwood Cemetery, Stanwood, Iowa.

Should friends desire, memorials in Miss Davidson's name may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church.

The daughter of Rev. Walter and Lula Dunbar Davidson, she was born June 28, 1898, at Stanwood. She graduated from North Bend, Neb., High School in 1917. In 1921, she graduated from Tarkio College with a B.A. in history and language, earning a teacher's certificate at Nebraska Wesleyan College in 1922. She taught school in Assuitt and Cairo, Egypt, from 1925 to 1939. She received a master's degree in Latin and history from the University of Iowa and a B.S. in library science from the University of Illinois in 1942.

Miss Davidson had been librarian at Monmouth College and came to Grinnell College as librarian in 1942. In 1965, she was named reference librarian emerita. She had been a member of the First United Presbyterian Church since 1953 and was an elder of the church from 1959 to 1961. She was also a member of Church Women's Club, Alpha Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Omega Sigma Club, the American Library Association, and the Iowa Federated Women's Club.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norris Davidson.
