Mrs. John Homer of Downey, well known to West Branch residents, passed away Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. E. Jenkinson, at Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Homer had been very ill for some time, following a stroke of paralysis, and a few weeks ago she was removed to Cedar Rapids where she was cared for until her death. Her son, Andy Homer, of Moline, Ill., preceded his mother in death only twenty days.

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Homer have not yet been completed.

Elizabeth Homer was born in Johnson county, Iowa, July 27, 1862. She was one of ten children born to Samuel and Martha Gamble, and with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Lily Workman of Utah, all the family has passed to the Great Beyond. Her entire life has been passed in this vicinity. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Jenkinson, 1722 Ellis Blvd., Cedar Rapids, Nov. 27.

Her husband, John Homer, to whom she was married Oct. 14, 1882, survives her, together with five daughters, Mrs. Jenkinson, Mrs. C. N. Stryker, Sioux City; Mrs. Wilma Mann, Chicago; Mrs. Stella Fuqus, Devon, Ill.; Mrs. Mattie Hormal, San Francisco; and one son, Harry A. Homer, of Silvis, Ill. One daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Moylan, died fifteen years ago, and one son, Andy Homer, passed away at Moline, Ill, three weeks ago. Ten children and two greatgrandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the Baptist church at Downey, conducted by the Rev. Harry D. Green of the Methodist church at West Branch. Interment in the Downey cemetery.
