DIED On Saturday morning, Jan. 13th, 1883, after two weeks of sever illness of inflammation of the bowels, Samuel, son of H. I. and Lizzie Gruwell, aged 7 years 10 months and 4 days.

This dear child endured his suffering with remarkable calmness and resignation, and was of a bright and thoughtful disposition. His mother being an invalid, his only regret at leaving was "What will mother do without me?" And shortly before his death he raised his little emaciated hand and said, "here mother take these flowers, now let me go higher." Then quietly and sweetly went to sleep in Jesus.
