18 July 1929 - West Branch Times

Inger Marie Pedersen was born in Grandup, Denmark, Ninth Month 5th, 1842. In 1875 she came to America and was married in 1876 to Lars Christian Hansen. Their home was made in Hamilton county, where the land was but newly settled. Here, amid the joys and hardships of pioneer life, they lived for sixteen years; the remaining thirty-six years of married life were spent near West Branch, in Cedar county. She passed away Seventh Month 15th, 1929, aged nearly 87 years.

She leaves to mourn her loss her aged husband and their two children, Louis of Butterfield, Minn., and Bertha, wife of Thomas B. Anderson. In the home of the latter she has been tenderly cared for during the last ten months of her life. There are also five surviving grandchildren, and three brothers--Soren and Peder Pedersen are with us, the other brother lives in Denmark.

As a young woman she chose to live a religious life, and joined the Society of Friends. In this faith she continued to walk during the remainder of a long life. Helpfulness and hospitality to others and an interest in the business of the farm as well as in the home--these traits were characteristics of her strong mind.

Funeral services were held, according to the Friends custom, at the Conservative Friends meeting house at West Branch, Fourth Day afternoon, at two o'clock, and burial was made in the West Branch cemetery.
