John B. Robertson was born in New Hampshire in the year 1802. He married S. G. Pinkerton in 1826 and moved to Ohio in 1840, from there to Poweshiek Co. Ia. in 1852 of which state he has since been a resident. He died at the age of 86 years 6 months and 14 days. In early life he united with the Presbyterian Church but after coming to Iowa he joined the Methodists and remained with them till his death. He was the father of eleven children, six of whom are still living. The funeral services were held at Brick Chapel on Sunday, April 28th, conducted by Rev. W. S. Craft.
