8 November 1906 - West Branch Times

Linna Heacock was born at West Branch, Iowa, November 19, 1867, and died near Carnduff, Saskatchewan, Canada, Oct. 27, 1906.

While still in childhood, after the death of her mother, she went to Ohio and for two years made her home with her grandmother Armstrong. Returning to Iowa, she resided with relatives at West Branch until about thirteen years of age, when she went to live with Miss Hannah Hendershot. Later she went to Kinglsey, Iowa, and taught school for a time.

After this she returned to West Branch to care for her grandmother Heacock, later spending a year or two in California. Returning to Iowa, and in 1900, in company with Miss Cora Varney, engaged in business in West Branch.

On Feb. 17, 1904, Miss Heacock was united in marriage to Ross J. Stratton, and after a brief residence at Oskaloosa, they removed to Carnduff, Saskatchewan, Canada, where they made their home until death claimed the beloved wife.

Mrs. Stratton's was a beautiful Christian character. In West Branch she was a devoted worker in the church and Epworth League, and in Canada she found opportunity for Christian work in the church near which they lived.

That one of such fine and noble character should be called away in the midst of her usefulness seems very sad. We can only leave these mysteries in the hands of Him who "doeth all things well," and we rejoice that she was ready to go when called. She has only been transferred to her Heavenly and more exalted sphere.
