9 November 1905 - West Branch Times

Texie M. Holden was born near Lexington, Virginia, March 24, 1877, and died at West Branch, Iowa, Oct. 24, 1905.

She came to the state of Iowa in the month of August, 1896, and on March 8, 1890, was united in marriage to Wm. McCaleb, since which time her home was in, or near, West Branch. For the last year of her life she was a great sufferer, the disease to which she finally succumbed having taken a firm hold upon her body and refused to be dislodge. But painful and protracted as her sufferings were she bore them with Christian fortitude and patience, for she had learned the source whence comfort and strength could be found, and was therefore able to say, as did Paul, "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto his against that day."

From the earthly view-point she had many things to live for, and home ties and interests which would make life appear, not only desirable, but necessary, but tho' the dispensation of Providence seemed mysterious calling upon one so young to leave husband and children, yet she was willing to bow to the purpose of the heavenly Father.

There are left to mourn their loss, husband, two small children, father, three sisters and two brothers.

The funeral services took place on Oct. 25th, being held in the Presbyterian church, of which church Mrs. McCaleb had been a member for several years.
