1 September 1881 - West Branch Local Record

A sad case of drowning occurred at this place Tuesday. Little Ralph, a three-year old son of Al Jepson, who was in the habit of going to meet his papa as he returned from his work, went to meet his father about 11 A.M., Tuesday, but did not tell his mamma where he was going. The child did not return with his father and a search being made, his body was found floating in the creek near the railroad north of the mill. The body was found by Mrs. D. T. Rogers. It is supposed that little Ralph slipped from a foot log that spans the creek. The water was not more than two and a half feet deep where the child was drowned. The funeral occurred yesterday at 1 P.M.
