RANDALL, GRUWELL, JOHNSON

John C. Randall, a long-time resident of this community, died at his home on South Downey street, Monday morning at 12:40 o'clock.

Mr. Randall had been in failing health for several months. He was up and about on last Friday and on Saturday a sudden turn for the worse came and his unexpected death occurred as above stated.

He was 72 years, 9 months and 10 days of age at the time of his death and leaves to mourn his loss six sons and two daughters, J. N. of Nichols, Iowa, John of Campbell, Minn., Milton of Clay Center, Kansas, Floyd, Orvil and Charles of West Branch, Mrs. Ed. Gruwell of Sandstone, Minn., and Miss Faunette at home, besides five brothers three of whom live in Canada and Ed. and Frank of this place.

The children were all in attendance at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Gruwell, who was unable to come on account of sickness. Others in attendance were Ed. Gruwell of Sandstone, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Randall and Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Randall of Iowa City.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, Rev. Laura Townsend of the Friends church officiating. Interment in West Branch cemetery.

John C. Randall was born near Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, on August 11, 1844. He came to Iowa in 1871 and resided near West Liberty, returning to Canada in 1874 and was united in marriage to Miss LaDelia Johnson, they living in Canada until they came to Iowa in 1878 and settled near West Branch, where he lived until his death, May 21, 1917.

His wife preceded him in death May 20, 1912, in her 58th year.

He leaves to mourn his death six sons and two daughters--Lillian Randall Gruwell and John M. Randall of Minnesota, Milton G. of Kansas, Joseph N., Floyd O., Orville E., Charles W. and Faunetta of West Branch; also five brothers, Ebenezer, Joseph and Walter of Ontario, Canada, and Edward and Frank of West Branch.

The funeral services were held in the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Mrs. Laura Townsend, pastor of the Friends church.
