The people of West Branch and community were shocked and deeply grieved when the sad news reached them of the sudden death of Miss Sadie Owen, which occurred Sunday afternoon about one o'clock at the home of Mrs. Carrie McGrew.

Miss Owen had been a teacher in our schools for the past six years and so admirably had she done her work that her place will be hard to fill. Possessed of a lovely character and with a disposition cheerful and kindly, she endeared herself to all who knew her. She worked faithfully in the schools, in the O.E.S. and in the church.

The funeral services took place at her home in Tipton at 2:00 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. The West Branch schools were closed and all who could possibly do so attended the services.
