DIED--September 15th, 1886 at the home of her parents in West Branch, Gertrude, daughter of C. H. and Phoebe Wickersham. Obituary will appear next week.

23 September 1886 - The Local Record

On September 15th, 1886, Gertrude, eldest daugher of C. H. and P. B. Wickersham of malignant scarlet fever and diphtheria, after an illness of only four days--aged fifteen years, three months and twenty-two days. She was ever a gentle, loving, and dutiful daughter and sister--the pride and joy of her parents, and the stay of her aged grandparents. Her life, from earliest childhood, was one of fixed repose, and even met sickness and death with the calm fortitude that characterized her life. Thus the budding promise of a glorious womanhood, has been suddenly emerged into happy immortality, and bleeding hearts are trying to say, "Thy will, oh God, not mine be done."
