Emily M. Wellman was born Jan. 8, 1855, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ann Harrison of Iowa City. Her early life was spent attending the city schools and later became a successful school teacher. She was a member of the Christian church. For the last thirty years her home as been in the West, she returned to care for her aged mother.

She leaves to mourn her loss a sister, Mrs. Thos. Moore, of West Branch, Iowa, and a brother, George Harrison of Frederick, Ill., and a number of nephews and nieces and other relatives.

The funeral was held at Iowa City Undertaking Parlors at Iowa City on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and was conducted by Rev. I. A. Bartholomew of West Branch. Interment in Oasis cemetery.
