8 November 1928 - West Branch Times

Mrs. James Tucker passed away at 11:30 P.M. Saturday, Oct. 27, 1928, at the family home near Plato. She had been ailing for the past year. She was born April 9, 1863, and has been a resident of this community her entire life.

On April 11, 1888 she was united in marriage to James Tucker and to this union were born eight children: One daughter and son who preceded her in death; Frank J. Tucker, West Branch; Mrs. Carrie Hayslett, West Branch; Mrs. Mike Horrigan, Tipton; Clifford, Mildred, and Irene at home, who with her husband are left to mourn the great loss of a good wife and kind and loving mother. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Mrs. J. L. Wilkinson, Iowa City; Mrs. Will Gill, Sioux City; Mrs. Joe Wilson, Grand Island, Neb., and Ed Kenney of Cedar Rapids.

Her quiet and unassuming disposition won many friends for her and she will be greatly missed in the community in which she resided so long.

The funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church on Tuesday morning at 9:30, requiem mass being celebrated by Rev. Vaughn, who preached the sermon and pronounced the final blessing at the grave in St. Joseph's cemetery at Cedar Valley.
