The death of Mrs. Pamelia Kirkland occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Mather, on Saturday evening after an extended illness. Mrs. Kirkland has made her home in the Mather home for many years and during her residence here made many friends who will miss her friendship. She has been in failing health for the past few years and last spring she received a fall from which she never recovered. She has been tenderly cared for during her illness by her daughter and husband and the four grandsons. The funeral services occurred at the home on Christmas morning with Rev. Harvey in charge after which her body was taken to Springville for burial. The community extend sympathy to those who are bereaved.

Merlin Mather arrived on Tuesday morning from Chicago to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Kirkland. He was accompanied back to Chicago by his mother, Mrs. J. E. Mather, his brother, Donald, and Mrs. Mary K. Mather.

Pamelia Green was born March 30, 1850, at Fort Madison, Iowa, and passed away in peaceful rest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elbert Mather, at Springdale, Iowa, Dec. 22, 1928. She was the thirteenth child of Eli and Barbara Green.

For some time she taught school near Bangor, Iowa. In the year 1869 she moved with her parents to Missouri where she again was engaged in teaching until her marriage in 1871 to Robert Kirkland of Butler, Mo. On June 15, 1873, her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond.

One daughter was born to this union. After the death of her husband she moved to Kansas, and one year later moved to Anamosa, Iowa, remaining there until 1897, when she came to make her home with her daughter.

In February, 1928, she received injuries from a fall from which she never recovered, being confined to her bed until her depature to the other land where sorrow and pain are unknown to all the faithful of God.

Besides a daughter, Mrs. Elbert Mather, she leaves to mourn, one brother and sister, four grandsons and many friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at Springdale Christmas morning at 10 o'clock, in charge of the Friends pastor. Burial was at Springdale.
