Benajah Hoover was born in Miami county, Ohio, March 27, 1836. Where he spent the days of his childhood and youth. In the spring of 1854 he came with his parents to West Branch, Ia. He was united in marriage with Margaret Ellen Albin, October 23rd, 1866 and remained on the old homestead for the last forty-two years of his life, except about two years which he spent in southern California. He was widely known throughout the country in different kinds of business relations. Failing health for the last two years cast a shadow over life's pathway. He passed away about 2 o'clock on the morning of the 26th. So quiet and peaceful was his sleep that the watchers hardly knew when he entered into his rest. He said only a short time before his departure: "Whatever may be the final result, my confidence in God and his never failing word will remain unmoved. He has displayed his mighty power in me."

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. D. Stevens at the family home near this city, where a large company assembled, notwithstanding the extreme wet weather.
